Convert RTF to Word online
Use this RTF to DOCX converter to turn RTF files into DOCX right in your browser — ideal for editable documents, reports and letters and collaboration.
When should you convert RTF to Word?
- When you need it for editable documents
- When you need it for reports and letters
- To open your files in apps that prefer DOCX
- To share DOCX files more easily
What happens to your file
LibreOffice opens the RTF headlessly with its Writer filter and exports DOCX. Writer, Calc, and Impress each have their own permitted output set — LibreOffice will not convert across those categories, so the allowed targets here are Writer's.
Settings this conversion runs with
| Engine | LibreOffice headless (Writer) |
|---|---|
| Output | DOCX |
| Font handling | Missing fonts detected and substituted before rendering |
What changes
- If the document uses a font the server does not have, a substitution is picked before rendering — a close match, not the original. Line breaks and page counts can shift as a result, which is why it is worth opening an important file before sending it on.
- Right-to-left documents get an extra pass: justification is normalized before rendering so Arabic paragraphs do not come out stretched or misaligned, and a known-bad Arabic font is swapped for one the renderer handles correctly.
