Merging does not re-encode anything
Combining PDFs joins their page structures rather than rendering the pages again. Nothing is re-compressed, so text stays selectable, vector artwork stays vector, and image quality is exactly what it was in the source files. The combined file is roughly the sum of its parts.
Order is set by you before the merge runs, by dragging the files into position. That matters more than it sounds: there is no reliable way to reorder pages afterwards without splitting the file again.
What to check before and after
- Page orientation. Mixing portrait and landscape sources produces a file that alternates, which is fine on screen and awkward in print.
- Page size. A4 and Letter pages in one document will not print consistently from a single tray.
- Total page count against the sum of the originals, as a quick check that nothing was dropped.
- File size. Merging many image-heavy PDFs produces a large file; compress afterwards if you need to email it.
When something else is the better tool
If you want only part of each document, split the sources first and merge the extracted pages — that is faster than merging everything and trimming afterwards.
If the pages are images rather than PDFs, use the image-to-PDF tool, which embeds a single image losslessly rather than re-rendering it.

Frequently asked questions
How many PDFs can I merge?+
There is no hard limit on the number of files. Large batches may take longer to process.
Can I reorder the files?+
Yes. Drag files into the order you want before merging.
Will image quality be affected?+
No. The merge only combines the PDF structure — no re-encoding or quality loss.
